B-LIEVE

Game 7.

Stanley Cup Finals.

One win away.

Amazingly the Bruins will be experiencing their first ever Stanley Cup Final Game 7 tonight in Vancouver.  There is a buzz and an excitement in and around the city today in anticipation of the possibility of the city's first Cup since 1972 (in fact Poopa might have a heart attack before the puck even drops).

There is also a confidence present that has been lacking with this franchise for the last 21 years.  Bruins fans of recent years have always waited for the other shoe to drop with their team.

2011 has changed all of that.

The Bruins seemed to have altered the mindset of their fan base in the last 2 months and 1 day.  The faithful seem to actually have the faith and this team has more than earned it.

Down 0-2 after losing the first 2 games at home to Montreal?  They answered with 3 straight wins, including 2 in Montreal.

Overtime in Game 7 after blowing a late lead against the Habs?  Nathan Horton delivered the rocket shot from the high slot to send them into the second round.

Up 3-0 on Philadelphia for the second straight year?  The Bruins delivered the 5-1 knockout blow they were missing last season to send the Flyers packing.

Game 5, series tied 2-2, after blowing a 3 goal lead in Game 4 and falling behind 1-0 less than 90 seconds into the game?  The Bruins stars stepped up and delivered a 3-1 win.

On top of all that, in this series they have overcome another 2-0 deficit.  They have overcome the loss of their biggest gamer, Nathan Horton.  Down 3-2 Monday night they again answered the bell with a 5-2 victory at the Garden that wasn't even that close.

The team that has continually given us more questions than answers in my lifetime has answered every question and passed every test put in front of them this postseason.  They have proven to be a resilient, tough minded team.  They don't get too high or too low.

The city believes in this team because they have forced us to believe again.

Win or lose this team should be celebrated for all they have done.

Something tells me though we will be celebrating them for the right reason.
